Unit 78 - Digital Graphics for Computer Games
Task 6 – Review
For my assignment i had to create a character, a spaceship and a typelogo for a gaming company that are making a game called Squea which is about an alien that has taken the form of a white, golden eyed kitten and is to collect items called joy points. To create my character i had a look at previous games thats had kinda the same style of characters, Because i had decided to make a stealthy game i decided to make a small spaceship so the enemies don't spot Squea. When making my type logo i made it look sci-fi looking by adding the solar system and adding an alien like text to the name of the game. The hardest part of my assignment was the designing of the characters on Photoshop as i haven't spent a lot of time on photoshop so i don't have the skills. The part i have enjoyed the most was making the characters as i will need this skill to continue my course and lifestyle within the games industry.
Task 5 – Vector Presentation
When deciding on how i should design the front screen of the game i decided to show the main character as well as the enemies. For the logo i decided to show the solar system so the player knows what each of the levels feature, Each level will be a planet from the solar system. The main character is shown in the top right of the logo because the game is about being stealthy and trying not to be spotted.
Task 4 – Vector Production
need any weapons, this is why the enemy space ships are shown on the front of the game.
Task 10 – Review
Task 10 – Review
Write an evaluation
of your project. Use your plan, production log and blog posts to identify the
strengths and weaknesses of your design process. This is best carried out by
producing a conclusion to the design process evidenced in your blog. Try to
establish whether or not your finished product has achieved the aim of the
project.
Remember that you are trying to create computer game
graphics and apply project management techniques to direct a project, to a
technical quality that reflects near-professional standards following industry
practice, showing creativity and flair and working independently to
professional expectations.
Task 9 – Pixel Presentation
Task 9 – Pixel
Presentation
Present your
completed pixel artwork assets on your blog in Jpeg format and upload the
original Png versions to Moodle as a compressed Zipped folder.
Ensure that you have
included all aspects of your working processes within your blog posts. This
production log will need to include explanatory notes, imagery and screen-shots
from the software and any other processes you are using.

Task 8 – Pixel Production
Task 8 – Pixel
Production
Re-work and
simplify your vector artwork into pixel artwork assets using the supplied
templates from the Mekka Hornet prototype. You may choose to use a range of
software applications to create your assets.
